SODAC -KAMAPALA, Uganda, believes that when communities and families achieve sufficient income, food and nutritional securities, they can be able to support, care for and educates their dear ones infected or affected by HIV/AIDS or any other devastating condition. The sexually active category of the community will stay away from situation that exposed them to infections due to economic hardship.

The organization is formed to achieve the common goal of;

  • Fight against HIV/AIDS, discrimination, stigma, etc among different category of people especially youth in different schools and higher institutions, etc.

Since AIDS scourge which claim to be the most social problems affecting most people in Uganda today and leaving many children with no relatives willing to adopt any of the siblings (orphans) left, taking care of the siblings left is the responsibility of Elderly brother or sister in the family and children from the child-headed families constitute the biggest numbers of school dropouts in many schools in north and north-eastern Uganda today. The stories narrated by most child-headed families is a miniature of what goes on in other parts of Uganda and other neighboring countries in Africa today particularly families affected by either WAR or DREADFUL PESTILENCE (HIV/AIDS) disease.

  • providing social support to families affected by either WAR or HIV/AIDS especially to child-headed families/orphans and poor families, etc; (schools fees, uniforms, clothing, food items, medical care, etc) and most of these children faced the need of;

    Education

    Food

    Clothing

    Better shelter

    Medical care incase the child is HIV/AIDS positive, etc.

    Rehabilitation to the street children (where to stay)

What we do

Currently as SODAC, we are doing a lot of activities according to the vision which God gave to Eng. Fred Edwards Kabogoza

We are moving mainly according to our missions and our targest, and these are;

  1. Orphans and widows Heritage

  2. Schools

  3. Hospital Ministry;

  1. ORPHANS’, VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND WIDOWS’ HERITAGE MINISTRY

This being one of our target departments, and party of our big vision, we minister to many poor or needy orphans, vulnerable children like (street kids and abandoned children), and the needy widows. We do this following the word of God in Psalms 41:1 Blessed [is] he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; [and] he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness

The Orphans and Vulnerable children;

The organization gives help to orphans and vulnerable children of ages between 4-21 years, who are registered with us and we currently have a total number of 200 children.

 We minister to them in many ways according to or following our vision of “bringing new hope to the hopeless”. We mainly deal with their challenges which have been causing sorrow in their lives. And here are the services we offer to them;

  • We found out that the first thing these people need is to hear some great encouraging words, so we give them much of our time to listen to them and we ask them to tell us some of their experiences, so they share many things as we listen. There after we talk to them and we try to tell them how great God loves them and is interested in giving them a new hope and better life. This has helped greatly in washing away the thoughts of sorrow and the negative words these people have had before, and we have realized a smile among many of them as a result of the positive words we speak in their lives.

  • We supply many of the basic necessities to these people after learning well their needs. We give them things like; washing soap, we buy and supply paraffin to them, salt, sugar, mosquito nets and other basic needs.

  • We give them clothes and shoes

  • We also help in getting them better shelter. Here we rent houses for the widows who are currently staying with them as we look forward to building a home for the homeless

  • We feed them. Here we get different types of foods and drinks which we supply to them. Some of this food is got from our food crops farming project and some we buy.

  • Education. We are also helping in taking and encouraging many to go to schools to get better education as it’s also one of the great things which can help them to secure a brighter future for themselves. So we provide to them scholastic materials like;

    1. Pens

    2. Books

    3. Pencils

    4. School uniforms

    5. School shoes

    6. Schools bags

    7. And paying the school dues such as school fees and other dues as stated by the school.

  • We supply beddings to them like; (mattresses, bed sheets, blankets, beds and mosquito nets.

  • We also help in giving them better medication. In case of any sickness or diseases, we take them to hospitals for better treatment.

  • We organize and facilitate for them play meetings like; football matches and netball (we give them the balls), kids games, singing, dancing competitions, skits, poetry telling and drama. This helps many to kill the issue of loneliness and makes them try to forget some of their sorrow. Our aim is to keep them happy and maintain a smile on their hearts and faces.

  • We organize trips for these children where we take them to tour different places and things.

  • We also make get-together parties for them. We bring them together for small meals which we organize occasionally.

  •  We also make annual parties for them at the end of every year. This is done always in December as celebrations for passing through the whole year and preparing them for the New Year.

  • We also do bible studies where we teach them the word of God and supply bibles and other Christian books to them, this helps them in how to live and grow up as good Christians.
